If we were to do a sample run .015 steel, TEMPER QC(=T1) 2LB Both sides (.00012 thick tin nominal ) We would need to buy the equalivelant of 125 sheets of 10x14 for $6.80/sheet. The minimums eat us alive. The Coil is 10 inches wide.

A small production run .015 steel, TEMPER QC(=T1) 2LB Both sides (.00012 thick tin nominal ) We would need to buy the equivelant of 3334 sheets of 10x14 for $.94/sheet.
Here we are just above the minimums charged by either company.

The plater will do a test dip to verify that the steel is plate-able. Other than that - we have little warrenty. At the same time the plater has been in business doing this type of stuff for electrical components for many years.

I believe our risks are about 10% for a probability of failure.

The plater does not support sheeting this product. The tin will be very soft and will show ALL TYPES of scratches and therefore we will be disappointed if we have him slit the coils. The final product you will be purchasing is in a roll of 100 lbs or a little less each. So each roll is about 164 sheets of 10x14. Being under 100 lbs allows us to ship UPS. Shipping and crating is not included. Unless we decide to do something different. Each "nearly 100 lb" roll is $156 as the quote is today.

The shipping I have here at work is ups and the ESTIMATE for shipping to Vermont From Illinois is $48.02.

There is some waste end of the roll and beginning of the roll. we do not know how much that will be, I will calculate the waste over all customers so we share in that equally.

I have no extra cash to suppliment this project. We would have to have most everything prepaid. I am not making any money doing this, and I will not be responsible in any way ( other than doing my best ) for any discrepancies. And Yes, it is only fair to say that any defect outside the warrent of either steel company or the plater is ours.

The bottom line is you can purchase a hot dipt roll for $205 including shipping, that will provide about 164 sheets of 10x14.
We need to sell 20 rolls to get this price

The current Retco price is 4.70 a sheet for 28 gage bright ( 28 gage is what we are getting ). That comes out to 1.19 a 10x14 sheet where our price would be .94 for a 10x14 sheet. And then it is hot dipt.

Considering that Renyolds does not have any stock of the weight and temper that we normally get and considering we are getting hot dipt.
I think it is in your best interest to purchase this product.

New information, the big roll will be cut into lighter rolls.
the diameter of the INSIDE of the roll is 18"

This is great cause the roll you get wont be so full of spring you can't lay it flat. I need some ideas to ship ? I was going to use plywood with 4 posts screwed into it..what do you'll think of wooden boxes..screwed shut?

I can only haul so many to OHIO, I have permission to use the warehouse here at work for a while. I need a few ideas Please.

Thanks to all who participated.
I will send out invoices and would appreciate payment up front and quickly.
as soon as the money is here, we will get the steel plated.

I am invoicing 225 per roll shipped, any left over will be refunded.
The packaging will be a plywood box with foam on the inside to protect the tin.. not sure, but will make every effort to get it done right.

The steel company includes some packaging with the price.
We will have the tinplate wrapped on a heavy cardboard tube. I wil be making a wooden box about 2' x 2' X 10, The rolls will be banded with nylon banding with protectors. covered with a water proof paper and set inside the box. The box will have a "bearing" for the cardboard tube, this way the coil will not sit on itself but hang on the center.

This is the way I am going. if anyone has a better ideal let me know.
