Forge is insulated with kaowool, a silicon fiber that is rated for 2300 degrees. I coat the wool with a rigidtizer that seals the fibers and reflect the heat back into the chamber. I suspect the wool should last 1 year or longer before replacement is necessary. The total cost to make this forge was under $20.00.
